Depression. Is it real?

Now, before we get all excited and start debating this, let me say this, I do not want to talk about depression. No, that title was just to grab your attention. I do not want to talk about just depression because that's really not the main thing. It's only a part of the bigger picture, which is the mental illness section of our medical system. One can discuss specific mental illnesses to he or she is blue in the face, but it all starts with the system that encompasses all of it. And in my opinion.....

Josh: I believe the system is a/the issue. Period. There are millions of people getting prescriptions for drugs they don't need, there are even more people who are labeled with descriptions that are just a way to avoid responsibility, work, life in general, and to collect a welfare check. Two of my favorite "mental disorders" are ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) for those who don't know, and ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder). These, seem to me like just an excuse for the parents of said kids to not accept responsibility for the training, instruction, and upbringing of their children. Just put them on the pill, that should fix it.

This all being ranted, just brings me back to me original statement I think that most cases of "mental disorders" are people just not wanting to accept responsibility for their actions.

Aaron: Well, I agree to some degree. I think that many mental disorders are used as a way of avoiding responsibility, but I also think that plenty of people have very real problems that need to be dealt with medically. I DO think that with kids especially so much medication shouldn't be prescribed. There is a level where kids should just be disciplined instead of kept down with potentially mentally stunting drugs.
Depression is sometimes a real medical disorder caused by not enough of a chemical called serotonin in the brain, as well as other things. However, I say "Sometimes" because everybody gets sad. There is a difference that many people don't understand between sadness and depression. Sadness is being sad and disappointed and frustrated because something bad happened. Depression is difficult to explain, but it feels quite a bit different.

Is 3D really worth it?

Is it? IS IT?!

Is it really worth that extra money to put on some funky, albeit cool glasses and have things leap out at you from the screen in pretty colors?

Josh: I dare say not! Are you kidding me? You already charge me 8 dollars for a single ticket, and now you want me to pay and extra dollar fifty for 3D that doesn't do anything for practically all of its movies? You can go pound sand! But, that all being ranted, I will say that the 3D glasses are quite awesome and I am sad whenever I have to give them back.

Aaron: Well, 3D is pretty cool. But at this point in time, it's just not worth the cost and the headache, especially for people like me, who have to wear glasses constantly! The coolness factor for 3D glasses quickly drops to zero when you've got nerdy glasses on under them. At this point in time, 3D seems like a gimmick to get people to pay more for movies. Maybe in the future, if it's done right, it could be pretty cool--but for now, it's just not appealing.

Josh: Agreed!

Guy meets girl. They talk for ten minutes. Everyone now assumes they're going out.

Okay. Here, is a common scenario I have discussed with Aaron a LOT!

Anytime a guy and a girl talk more besides the formal "whats up?" and "How you doing?", and everyone assumes the "like" each other. And, if God forbid, they spend any time together, everyone "knows" they "like" each other.

Josh: Now, I for one Aaron, find this scenario extremely annoying! In my oh-so-humble opinion, it IS possible for two people of the opposite sex to hang together without having a romantic interest in each other!

Aaron: I think it's annoying as well. However, it's used that often for a reason. So often, teenagers don't need any excuse at all to "like" each other in a romantic way. Had a good discussion with somebody? Must be love! Waved at somebody? Love! Glanced at a cute person and your heart stopped? Love at first sight!
